Job description

API.NET Core Developer

The Technology Services (TS) Agency of the City & County of Denver is recruiting for a full-time (40 hours per week) API.NET Core Developer to support the development work that will be required to successfully develop a custom web application for scheduling candidates, submit payments, and manage the candidates pool in a Backoffice administration application, using the most current technology stack for the API (.NET Core 5/6) and UI (Angular 12/13) frameworks. The API.NET Core Developer will work with the Product Owner, Analyst, UI Developer and QA resources on the team on requirements, operations, and automation. The API.NET Core Developer will develop innovative capabilities to add new and robust reporting capabilities using various insights/analytics to the platform.

API.NET Core Developer will work within the Applications Development Team in Technology Services, Agency clients, and vendor(s). This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, exciting, and engaged employee culture! The Applications Development Team is a mature, centralized organization within the Technology Services Agency.

The start date is approximately Jun 13, 2022. The engagement will be 40 hours per week, reporting to the Product Applications Development Manager. The duration of the engagement is expected to be four months, approximately through October 14, 2022, once the schedule has been developed and approved the task order will be adjusted accordingly.

The initial task order will expire on October 14, 2023.

Expected Responsibilities:

  • Develop REST API integrations of moderate to advanced complexity and scope, using.NET Core 5/6 best practices.
  • Design, develop and test scheduling software for one of the City and County departments using software best practices and applying various design patterns, and using tools such as Postman.
  • Implement configurable data mappings to allow custom data transformations.
  • Write automated unit tests and conduct code reviews.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, Analyst, UI Developer and QA resources on the team on requirements, operations, and automation.
  • Agile software development using Azure DevOps.
  • Participate in an agile environment for solution design, development, deployment, and production support.
  • Provide technical oversight on project implementations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members while taking guidance from Application Architect.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have an excellent professional attitude with strong interpersonal communications and presentation skills
  • B.S in Computer Science or equivalent (strong Computer Science fundamentals)
  • 5+ years of working experience with.NET Core
  • Excellent understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns
  • Excellent knowledge of C#,.NET Core 3.0 or higher
  • Experience with writing stored procedures, parsing JSON and XML
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture
  • Excellent Database experience (SQL Server) and good knowledge in query optimization
  • Excellent Experience with distributed architectures and REST APIs and Web Services
  • Experience in using containers and container orchestrators, cloud deployment
  • Experience with client-side architecture and design patterns
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Experience supporting and scaling consumer-facing applications
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Postman
  • Exceptional problem solving and ability to work independently
  • Exceptional learning skills
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Pass a criminal and financial background check

Employment Location: The work is a hybrid Work from home and on-site model, with a set number of days at the Wellington Webb Municipal Building, 201 West Colfax Avenue, Denver, Colorado. Updates and changes may occur based on State and Local mandates and recommendations for the foreseeable future. The contractor may also work with Denver team members at various building locations throughout the City and County of Denver as needed and allowed going forward.
