Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth personal lines business, with a focus on wind-exposed properties and complex risks.
  • Evaluate submissions, determine risk acceptability, structure coverage terms, and establish pricing consistent with underwriting guidelines and authority.
  • Develop creative solutions for non-standard risks while maintaining profitability and portfolio quality.
  • Partner closely with brokers to provide fast, clear, and consultative underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with mitigation, engineering, product, and commercial teams to improve risk selection and customer outcomes.
  • Maintain high-quality underwriting documentation and audit-ready files.
  • Manage portfolio performance against premium, policy count, profitability, and risk quality objectives.
  • Champion new underwriting tools, workflows, and technology-enabled improvements that enhance efficiency and decision quality.
  • Contribute underwriting insights that help evolve Stand's appetite, guidelines, and operating model.
Qualifications
  • Strong personal lines underwriting experience, preferably within high-net-worth or specialty property insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and structure complex risks while balancing growth and profitability.
  • Excellent judgment and decisionโ€‘making skills in ambiguous or non-standard underwriting situations.
  • Strong broker relationship management skills with a reputation for responsiveness and professionalism.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain underwriting decisions and tradeoffs clearly.
