ABOUT BETTER IMPACT

Our mission is simple: better volunteerism, stronger communities. Better Impact provides software that helps nonprofits, government agencies, healthcare organizations, and companies recruit, schedule, communicate with, and track volunteers and their impact. We advance volunteerism by equipping the professionals who make it happen with the technology, benchmarks, and community they need to run effective volunteer programs.

Today, our products support more than 85,000 organizations, millions of volunteers, and over 600 million volunteer hours across the nonprofit, public, healthcare, and corporate sectors. Our vision is a world where volunteerism is recognized, resourced, and respected in every community.

We are a growing, private-equity-backed business focused on meaningful work

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Design a quality strategy that works across .NET, PHP, and Node and TypeScript.ย You'reย not bringing a single-stack playbook.ย You'reย defining an approach to quality that holds up across a portfolio of different systems.ย

Build the automation layer. API and end-to-end test coverage, integrated into each platform's delivery pipeline, with agentic and AI-driven tooling brought in deliberately so coverage scales without adding headcount for every new surface.ย

Define and own the quality gates across all products. No ticketย exitsย development without a clear testing designation. Nothing ships to production without documented evidence that tests passed on an environment that genuinely mirrors production, sameย stackย and same configuration. You own the standard, and you own sign-off on environment parity.ย

Own regression protection throughย variousย legacy technologyย modernizationย eforts. Build the safety net that lets engineering re-platform aggressively without silently breaking customer-facing behavior. This is the difference between a modernization that ships and one that stalls under fear of breaking things.ย

Embed quality into eachย developmentย teamsย delivery cycle rather than bolting it on at the end.ย You'llย partner with engineering leadership across platforms and with productย owners, andย make qualityย a disciplineย teams rely on rather than a checkpoint they route around.ย

Requirements

WHO YOU ARE

You have deep experienceย inย software quality, with real depth in test automation. You are not a manual-QA manager looking to direct a team of testers.ย You'veย built systems, architected automated suites, and made hard calls about what to test and how.ย

You have built orย substantially rebuiltย a quality function before, ideally across more than one stack or product. You know what it takes to create standards where none exist and to get engineering to adopt them without resentment.ย

You are fluent in modern automation and comfortable that the stacks differ. You can reasonย aboutย quality in a .NET system, a PHP system, and a Node and TypeScript system, and design an approach that generalizes rather than one that only fits what you already know.ย

You treat AI and agentic tooling as the force multiplier that makes cross-stack quality possible for a small team.

You have protected a product through a major migration, re-platform, or rewrite, where regression was the central risk and the cost of getting it wrong was customer trust.ย

You understand that a multi-region SaaS product carries uptime and SLA obligations, and you build quality processes with that reality in mind.ย

Government, healthcare, or compliance experience is a plus but notย required.ย

Benefits

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance (after 90 days)
  • 401(k) (after 90 days)
  • Unlimited vacation + 9 paid holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Competitive comp package
