Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer who can lead Quality activities at our Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic components suppliers. The position will report into our Quality Organization located within our Mesa, Arizona facility.
Our Mesa facility is home to the Bushmaster® line of Chain Guns®, a premier line of medium caliber gun systems that support our customers' and warfighters' missions. Recently expanded, facility includes production and test range areas.
Job Functions:
  • Responsible for multiple components commodities.
  • RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) review, approval, and vetting for all NC's written against your suppliers
  • Leads audits, continuous improvement activities and periodic performance reviews at component suppliers
  • FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) review and approval for FAIR's written by your suppliers using Net Inspect
  • Resolve issues with suppliers arising out of Receiving Inspection, including but not limited to paperwork issues, dimensional issues, packaging issues and other part defects
  • Manage and support the Source Inspection process including source inspection of parts at your suppliers, supporting 3rd party source inspection at your suppliers, and AS13001 approval of your suppliers as applicable
  • Work hand in hand with the NG Buyer to resolve any quality issues that arise with your suppliers
  • NPI (New Product Introduction) support for your suppliers (new suppliers as well as new parts to an existing supplier)
  • Provides internal and external QMS compliance audit support
  • Analyze overall supplier quality performance information to identify risks through vendor scorecard evaluations and manage return to green activities as required for your suppliers.
  • Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.
  • Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (highly desired) or in a related STEM field of study.
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Supplier quality engineering experience
  • Excellent command of the 8D process for effective root cause determination and corrective actions
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, presentation skills and an excellent statistical analysis ability
  • Excellent people skills to work with internal customers and suppliers to achieve quality improvement activities
  • Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • High Energy, results oriented, self-motivated/self-reliant, team player
  • Solid Understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Computer and software expertise specifically MS Office products; Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Special Processes (heat-treat, coating, etc.) per NADCAP requirements
  • Experience with PCB, PCBA and Electrical/Electronic components
  • Command knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600 Standards and obtain level 2 certification.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt formal certification
  • Good understanding of the Six Sigma concept.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification (CQE)

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
