Net Developer Contract information

What is a net developer contract?

A .NET Developer Contract job is a temporary or project-based role where a developer specializes in building applications using Microsoft’s .NET framework. Contract developers are typically hired for a specific duration to work on software development, bug fixes, or system enhancements. They may work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with stakeholders to meet project goals. These roles can be on-site, remote, or hybrid and often require expertise in C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and related technologies. Contract positions offer flexibility and competitive pay but may not include traditional employment benefits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a net developer contract?

To thrive as a .NET Developer Contractor, a strong command of C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and object-oriented programming principles is essential, often backed by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with development tools like Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and certifications such as Microsoft Certified: .NET Developer are highly regarded. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and adaptability enable success when working with diverse teams and managing project requirements. These skills ensure that contractors can deliver robust, maintainable software solutions on time while effectively collaborating with clients and colleagues.

What types of projects and team structures can a .NET developer contractor expect to work with?

.NET Developer Contractors often work on a variety of projects, ranging from web and desktop application development to cloud-based solutions and integrations. Depending on the organization, you might collaborate with cross-functional teams that include project managers, UX/UI designers, QA testers, and other developers, or sometimes work more independently with minimal supervision. Projects can be short-term enhancements or longer-term, full-scale builds, and contractors are often expected to quickly adapt to new environments and existing codebases. This dynamic setup offers exposure to diverse technologies and processes, enabling contractors to expand their skill set and network across different industries.

MedPro Systems

Job description

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

MedPro Systems is standing up a dedicated Internal Applications capability within its Core Services pod, and this is its founding senior engineer. You will own MedPro’s net-new internal application surface — a service explorer, Veeva integration, and managed file transfer (MFT) integration — and build the MedPro Site Factory: a content-management and citizen-development enablement platform that lets experienced technical business users build their own governed, lightweight solutions with AI-assisted development at the core. This capability succeeds the internal rapid-development tooling MedPro has retired, rebuilt on the modern stack with governance designed in from day one.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Platform & Delivery:
  • Design, build, and run the MedPro Site Factory on the modern stack (React, FastAPI, PostgreSQL), including templates, scaffolds, and AI-assisted authoring for citizen developers.
  • Deliver and maintain the internal applications portfolio: service explorer, Veeva integration, MFT integration, and net-new internal applications as prioritized with the VP of Engineering.
  • Build for self-service – every capability should reduce, not increase, the requests routed to Engineering.
  • Governance & Security by Design:
  • Integrate all internal apps and citizen-built solutions with MedPro’s centralized SSO and entitlement registry (Auth0) from day one – no parallel identity or access paths.
  • Implement audit logging, data-access review, and a lifecycle policy for citizen apps: registration, named ownership, periodic review, and sunset.
  • Route platform-level design decisions through the Engineering Design Review; partner with Information Technology & Security on security review and production readiness.

Requirements:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor of Science - Computer Science

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Internal Applications builds internal tooling under Core Servies. It is deliberately distinct from MedPro’s customer-facing product portfolio and roadmap, which are governed by the Product organization and the product pods.

YEARS’ EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years full-stack engineering, including internal platforms, developer tooling, or low-code / citizen-development enablement.

TECHNOLOGY/SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

  • Depth in React, Python/FastAPI, and PostgreSQL; enterprise identity integration (SSO/OIDC, Auth0 or equivalent) and third-party integration (Veeva or comparable life-sciences platforms a plus).
  • Strong security instincts — least privilege, audit, and data governance as design inputs, not afterthoughts.
  • Fluency in AI-assisted development required; making AI-assisted building safe for non-engineers strongly preferred.

REQUIRED TRAVEL

  • 10%

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen and extensive reading. The individual in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time.
