Job Title: Intake Specialist
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Location: 100% Remote
Pay Rate: $18–$20/hour (W2)

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Intake Specialist to join our healthcare operations team. This is a fully remote opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with experience in health insurance, claims, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience handling intake requests, claims disputes or denials, and managing work queues in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming requests, inquiries, and transactions received via phone, email, fax, and mail.
  • Review requests for accuracy and completeness.
  • Triage incoming work queues and assign cases to the appropriate analyst.
  • Determine prior authorization and pre-certification requirements.
  • Verify member eligibility, benefits, and provider information.
  • Document customer interactions and maintain accurate case records.
  • Research and resolve missing or incorrect information.
  • Provide excellent customer support to members, providers, and internal teams via phone and email.
  • Communicate clinical review decisions through verbal and written notifications.
  • Analyze trends to identify training opportunities and provider education needs.
  • Perform monthly peer audits to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Meet established turnaround times, including processing and assigning cases within 24 hours.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare, health insurance, intake, or customer service.
  • Experience with health insurance claims, including disputes and/or denials.
  • Experience triaging work queues and assigning cases.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to research issues, make determinations, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
