Reports to: Production Supervisor
Location: San Marcos, Texas

About this role
The Jet Mill Operator in Training (O.I.T) is a hands-on technical role responsible for basic operation, setup, and optimization of jet mill and associated machine systems within the magnet production process. This position serves as an entry level operator role designed to build you into an advanced operator and subject matter expert, supporting the Production Supervisor by providing day-to-day assistance to operators, learning how to troubleshoot issues, ensuring adherence to process standards, and driving continuous improvement across production systems.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, process stability, safety, and production efficiency while acting as a key liaison between production, engineering, quality, and maintenance.

What You'll Be Doing:
Technical & Operational Foundations
โ€ข Learning to operate the Jet Mill and machine systems within magnet production.
โ€ข Following strict safety, quality, and efficiency guidelines during training.
โ€ข Escalating complex machine or process issues to leadership.
โ€ข Participating actively in on-the-job training.
Process & Quality Oversight
โ€ข Executing production tasks in strict accordance with standard procedures.
โ€ข Learning to monitor machine performance, yields, and quality metrics.
โ€ข Assisting with routine inspections to verify equipment and process compliance.
โ€ข Developing skills to read and interpret basic system schematics and process documents.
Systems & Troubleshooting
โ€ข Learning to interact with machine control systems and basic SCADA interfaces.
โ€ข Assisting in collection of production data for review by senior team members.
โ€ข Reporting equipment issues clearly to assist engineering and maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving equipment or process issues.
Continuous Improvement
โ€ข Identifying and recommending process, equipment, and workflow improvements to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
โ€ข Supporting the implementation of new processes, equipment commissioning, and system upgrades as required
We are looking for someone who:
โ€ข Has 1 year of manufacturing experience.
โ€ข Holds a High School Diploma or GED required
โ€ข Can demonstrate the ability to learn and excel in a production environment.
โ€ข Is proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
โ€ข Can generate, interpret, and communicate production, quality, and job order reports.
โ€ข Has strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Can follow and enforce detailed process steps and parameters while using modern manufacturing technology.
Physical Requirements:
โ€ข Able to move up to 50lbs.
โ€ข Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
โ€ข Can wear PPE.
โ€ข Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
โ€ข Can make repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, andwalking up and down stairs.
