Sentara Counseling Services is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our growing team. • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental and emotional well-being, taking a holistic approach to understand their unique circumstances.
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans that reflect clients' needs, issues, and therapeutic goals.
• Facilitate individual therapy sessions for clients of all ages, addressing an array of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges.
• Lead couples therapy sessions to enhance communication, resolve conflicts, and encourage stronger relationships.
• Regularly evaluate client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to support ongoing development and positive outcomes.
• Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of client interactions, progress notes, treatment plans, and case histories, ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical guidelines.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute distress, ensuring that they receive the necessary help immediately.
• Stay current with the latest research and techniques in marriage and family therapy, contributing to your professional growth and development.
• Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities and training to stay informed about best practices in the field.
• Advocate for clients' rights and support their empowerment in the therapeutic process, guiding them to make informed decisions about their care.

Our client base includes a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families, with varying ages and backgrounds. You will work with teens, adults, and couples, addressing a spectrum of mental health challenges, including relational issues, emotional distress, and life transitions. Your ability to connect with clients and understand their unique stories will be crucial in providing effective therapy.

• A Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required.
• Active licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist through the State Board, enabling you to practice legally as an LMFT.
• Demonstrated experience providing individual and/or couples therapy is essential.
• A background in working with both children and adults is preferred.
• Proven skills in completing client assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans in a timely manner.

• Prior experience in a remote work environment is advantageous.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems to facilitate efficient documentation practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary teams.
