Title of Position
– Special Assistant to the Vice President for Financial Innovation
Position Overview:
We seek a versatile finance professional to support the VP for Financial Innovation in managing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial expertise, and a proactive approach to identifying solutions and improving processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with financial planning, budgeting, and reporting aligned with the college’s mission and resource constraints.
  • Support accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, month-end close activities, internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit and higher education standards.
  • Lead or contribute to financial projects and process improvements.
  • Assist in developing and communicating financial policies and best practices tailored to the college’s operational needs.
  • Lead or support financial projects that cross academic, administrative, and auxiliary units, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
  • Represent the VP for Financial Innovation in select meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-through.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in higher education or nonprofit
  • Knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA or relevant certification
  • Experience in small college or liberal arts settings
