Job description

We provide comprehensive critical operational, engineering and customer support solutions including maintenance, refurbishment, technical publications, marketing and sales activities for the global regional aircraft industry.

We're hiring a Non-Destructive Testing Technician to help drive our continued success!ย 

Purpose of the role:

MHIRJ's network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Non-Destructive Testing Technician performs non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection of parts and materials to identify defects or deformities.

Here are the daily responsibilities of a Non-Destructive Testing Technician:

  • Conduct qualification testing for Level I and Level II NDT personnel certifications, interpret codes and approve written NDT procedures per American & Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and CFR title 14.ย 
  • Perform and interpret radiographs of casting, weldments, and other parts for discontinuities per Quality specifications (as applicable by site).ย 
  • Maintain radiographic records and reports of inspected parts for documentation, traceability, and evaluation of potential future problems in service areas (as applicable by site).ย 
  • Perform and interpret ultrasonic inspections of bonded parts, assemblies and or suspect parts to detect internal discontinuities.ย 
  • Perform and interpret ultrasonic thickness measuring on parts to determine thickness.ย 
  • Perform and interpret eddy current inspections on parts and assemblies to detect/measure cracks or other surface discontinuities.ย 
  • Perform and interpret conductivity and hardness measurements on parts requiring special evaluations to determine specific heat treatment or detection of heat damage.ย 
  • Perform and interpret magnetic particle and penetrant inspections as needed.ย 
  • Coordinate NDT inspections and results with various departments.ย 

Here is what is required to succeed:

  • Meet applicable education/certification/experience requirements to be NAS-410 Certified Level 2 NDT in methods of Eddy Current (ET), Penetrant (PT) and Untrasonic (UT) inspection.
  • Ability to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret/evaluate, and document the acceptance/rejection of parts.
  • Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method for which certified.ย 
  • Familiar with codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the methods used at facility.ย 
  • Basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technologyย 
  • Certified to perform specific tasks or applications in the Eddy Current and Ultrasonic methods.ย
