Job description

NOVA Engineering is seeking an NCDOT Certified Technician in our Raleigh, NC office.
This inspector will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractor's work, and perform basic field soil, ABC stone, asphalt and/or concrete tests and inspections under the direction of other NOVA engineering professionals to verify the work is performed in accordance with NCDOT and project specifications. Asphalt and concrete plant inspections may also be performed to verify compliance. With minimal paperwork involved, all inspections/observations and test data is input on smart phones/tablets in the field for immediate transmittal to our Project Managers and Engineers for review.
Responsibilities:
  • Performing field materials testing of soil, ABC stone, asphalt, concrete and/or steel
  • Performing plant inspections for asphalt and/or concrete
  • Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations provided
  • Evaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and providing recommendations
  • Communicating with clients, contractors, engineers and technician staff regarding construction issues

Required:
  • NCDOT Asphalt
  • NCDOT Conventional Density

Also Preferred:
  • NCDOT Concrete
  • NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling
  • NCDOT ABC Sampling
