Summary
The IT Medical Technician supports healthcare-related instructional technology, clinical simulation equipment, and technical support of skills labs. This position has an integral role in the proper installation, maintenance, and general operation of high, mid, and low-fidelity simulation equipment, task trainers, audiovisual equipment, immersive rooms, and computers used in the training of allied health, nursing, and EMS programs. The IT Medical Technician collaborates with faculty, staff, and IT personnel to maintain reliable and compliant technology systems that support student learning and realistic clinical simulation environments.
Knowledge & Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and medical IT systems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to computers, networks, printers, and medical devices.
  • Maintain network connectivity for medical equipment and office systems.
  • Perform software updates, backups, and system maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data security standards.
  • Provide technical support and training to healthcare faculty and staff.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve technical problems promptly.
  • Assist with cybersecurity measures and data protection procedures.
  • Document technical issues, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors and IT staff regarding equipment and software support.
  • Document technical procedures, configurations, and support tickets.
  • Maintain inventory of IT and medical simulation training equipment.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of laboratory facilities.
  • Collaborate with Health Sciences faculty and staff to ensure technology supports curriculum requirements.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend support.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned in support of the College's goals and core values.

Education Minimum:

Two (2) to three (3) years of experience with computer systems, networking, or technical support in healthcare simulation environments. Experience with public sector or educational institutions preferred
