Requires US Citizenship Employment Term and Type: Regular, Full Time Required Security Clearance:Secret Required Education: Bachelor's or Six (6) years of relevant professional experience Salary Band $130,000 to $135,000 Job Description: Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems by applying knowledge of computer science principles in order to implement and improve DoD computer systems and networks. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially available software. Support the design, integration, and sustainment of secure information systems and infrastructure within U.S. Navy operational and enterprise environments. Lead technical planning and implementation activities across the system lifecycle, ensuring alignment with mission requirements, cybersecurity policies, and applicable DoD/Navy standards. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts, maintaining system performance and availability, and guiding modernization and continuous improvement initiatives. Advise leadership on technical risks, architecture decisions, and program status. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Lead the engineering, integration, and sustainment of secure systems and infrastructure supporting U.S. Navy operational and enterprise missions. * Plan and execute technical activities across the system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment. * Ensure systems comply with DoD and Navy cybersecurity, interoperability, and configuration management standards and policies. * Coordinate cross-functional engineering and support teams to resolve technical issues and maintain system performance, reliability, and availability. * Evaluate and implement modernization and technology refresh initiatives to improve capability, efficiency, and mission alignment. * Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture artifacts, and engineering processes in accordance with program and governance requirements. * Advise program leadership on technical strategy, risks, and resource considerations, and provide regular status on engineering activities and outcomes. Required Qualifications: * Relevant IT experience * Active DoD 8570/8140 compliant baseline certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CISSP, SSCP, or equivalent) required prior to start. Desired Qualification: * Demonstrated knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, and NIST SP 800-53 security controls. * Industry certifications, such as: * CompTIA Linux+ or LPIC-1 / LPIC-2 (Linux Professional Institute) * Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) * Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate * VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) * Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Engineering (any discipline), Computer Science, Information Technology, or other technical discipline. (Six (6) years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.) Security Clearance Requirements: Secret Physical, Work Environment & Conditions: * Typical office environment: * Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods. * Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels. * Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30-50 pounds. * Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components. * Must be able to view computer screens for long periods. * Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights. * Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation. * May require walking between different buildings or workstations. * Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users. * May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues This position description is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with this job.
