What is a NAVSEA welder?

A NAVSEA welder is a skilled tradesperson certified to perform welding tasks that meet the strict standards set by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). These welders work on U.S. Navy ships and submarines, ensuring that all welded joints and structures are strong, safe, and comply with military specifications. NAVSEA welders often undergo rigorous training and certification processes to ensure their work can withstand the demanding conditions of naval operations. Their expertise is critical in maintaining the integrity and safety of naval vessels.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a NAVSEA welder?

Familiarity with NAVSEA welding procedures, certifications such as NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, and the use of specialized welding equipment are typically required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety are critical soft skills for this role.
