Job description

Responsibilities
Strategic Technology Consulting (STC), an Arcfield Company, is seeking a seasoned Naval Systems Engineer to support U.S. Navy submarine and shipbuilding programs at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. This role requires significant experience applying systems engineering principles to complex naval platforms, including requirements development, system design, technical analysis, integration, verification, and certification.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide systems engineering leadership supporting submarine and naval platform design, development, integration, test, and certification.
  • Develop, analyze, and manage system requirements, specifications, architectures, and interfaces.
  • Conduct and support trade studies, engineering analyses, alternatives assessments, and technical evaluations to inform design and program decisions.
  • Evaluate system designs and technical solutions for performance, feasibility, risk, interoperability, and compliance with Navy requirements.
  • Support requirements traceability, configuration management, verification and validation, and technical baseline management.
  • Participate in system requirements reviews, design reviews, technical reviews, risk assessments, and engineering working groups.
  • Collaborate with NAVSEA, Navy Program Offices, warfare centers, shipyards, and industry partners to resolve technical and system integration issues.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • BS 8-10 years, MS 6-8 years, PhD 3-5 years.
  • 5+ years of relevant U.S. Navy shipbuilding, submarine, or naval systems engineering experience.
  • Familiarity or training with EB Spec 2678, SUBSAFE, Level I material controls, or other relevant submarine/shipbuilding requirements preferred.
  • Experience supporting submarine new construction, modernization, or major naval acquisition programs.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA systems engineering, technical review, configuration management, and certification processes.
  • Experience with Virginia-class, Columbia-class, or other U.S. Navy submarine programs strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools as applied to complex naval platforms; experience with SysML-based modeling preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance; active Top Secret (TS) clearance preferred.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation. Min: $110,736.50 Max: $175,856.18
