Our Team:

Using innovative, collaborative, and client focused approaches to data extraction, aggregation, and standardization, the ESG data team is responsible for enhancing ESG content for the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. This includes company-reported and normalized metrics, industry-specific metrics, proprietary ESG scores, climate and regulatory data. Our ESG data is displayed alongside fundamental data, backed by news for context, and used to power a growing suite of sustainable finance products.

What's the role?

The Climate Data Team is looking for a Team Leader to lead and grow a high-performing team of subject matter and data management experts. You will be expected to drive the development of expertise and lead by example in the field of climate and data management within the team. Demonstrating your market knowledge and experience, you will be hands‑on in guiding your team to finding opportunities to expand coverage, ensure quality and timeliness, and work in with our product and engineering teams to generate business impact with our climate offering.

Your team will transform sophisticated data and work processes into data products that are indispensable to our users. You'll have extensive collaboration with global colleagues, and partners across all departments including News, Sales, Analytics, our Data Governance team, and Engineering.

We’ll trust you to:
  • Lead large and sophisticated data projects related to climate & nature datasets
  • Collaborate extensively with internal partners across Product, Engineering, Data, Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Bloomberg Intelligence, and Sales
  • Recruit, coach and mentor a team of climate & nature data management experts that will drive the creation of value for our clients through our data
  • Evolve our workflows and operating procedures to ensure data quality and timeliness
  • Drive innovation for your team and/or global product with respect to people, product, and processes
  • Ensure data governance is at the heart of all of our data products.
  • Represent your product by visiting clients and/or engaging in industry events to promote our data products and/or understanding client workflows with a strive to improve our offerings
You’ll need to have:
  • 3+ years of experience with proven leadership experience
  • 3+ years of experience working within the climate science, climate finance or climate policy space
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and delivering outcomes with cross-functional stakeholders across global teams and regions
  • Collaborative approach and exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of data how industry players use climate data to drive business decisions
  • Foundational knowledge and application of data management to tackle business problems
  • Good attention to detail and high degree of proven decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
We’d love to see:
  • Master's degree in, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Mathematics, MBA, or related field preferred/CFA or CAIA designation
  • ESG-related coursework or certification and solid understanding of the ESG market and data landscape
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as QlikSense
  • Experience with leveraging programming languages such as python to analyze large data sets.
  • Working knowledge of managing Data Models

Salary Range = 135,000-230,000 USD Annual+ Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
