Job description

What You Will Do:
As a Data Scientist Level 3 at Independent Software, you will support mission-focused Natural Language Processing (NLP) and data science efforts involving spoken and written language data. You will develop automated solutions for processing, tokenizing, annotating, and analyzing natural language data and help evaluate and improve existing analytical models.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and support Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions
  • Process and analyze spoken and written language data
  • Develop automated methods for tokenizing natural language data
  • Develop automated solutions for annotating language data with parts-of-speech information
  • Evaluate and improve existing models by comparing performance against human-generated speech and text annotations
  • Apply Python and data science techniques to language-processing challenges
  • Support development and evaluation of machine learning and AI-based solutions
  • Analyze results and document technical findings
  • Collaborate with technical and mission teams to support project objectives

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience processing and analyzing natural language data
  • Experience developing automated data-processing or analytical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with complex datasets and communicate technical findings
Experience with Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), MDLA, AI techniques, and/or AI testing is a plus.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Master's degree plus six (6) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree plus eight (8) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate's degree plus ten (10) years of relevant experience

Degree must be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
