Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Natural Gas Field Supervisor to oversee daily field operations involving natural gas distribution, service installations, underground utility construction, and related projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive field experience, and a proven ability to manage crews while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, quality, and customer service.

This position is responsible for coordinating personnel, equipment, materials, and schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead multiple field crews performing natural gas service installations, gas risers, meter sets, underground utility construction, and related activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, utility standards, OSHA regulations, and local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Monitor daily production, quality, safety, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct job site inspections, safety meetings, and field audits.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Review and approve daily reports, timesheets, production tracking, and project documentation.
  • Train, mentor, and develop foremen and field personnel.
  • Investigate and resolve field issues, customer concerns, utility conflicts, and construction challenges.
  • Work closely with utility companies, inspectors, builders, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper locating, excavation, damage prevention, and utility protection practices are followed.
  • Participate in scheduling, planning, budgeting, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accountability for project deadlines, crew performance, and overall operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in natural gas, underground utility construction, pipeline construction, utility contracting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing field personnel.
  • Strong understanding of natural gas distribution systems, service installations, and utility construction practices.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, utility maps, and project specifications.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, trench safety, excavation standards, and damage prevention practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operational software systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction Management degree or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience working directly with utility companies, municipalities, or residential builders.
  • Knowledge of gas service installations, electrofusion, pressure testing, meter set installations, and utility inspections.
  • OQ (Operator Qualification) certifications or equivalent utility certifications.
  • Experience managing production schedules, budgets, and workforce planning.
