Job description

Targa Resources has an immediate opening for a Sr Gas Marketing Representative (will consider upgrading to manager level if experience is appropriate) in our Downtown Houston Office.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead term and daily natural gas marketing and trading activities for Targa's operating assets, optimizing flow paths, pricing strategies, and commercial outcomes.

Manage and optimize natural gas supply, transportation, and sales portfolios while balancing operational requirements, customer commitments, and commercial objectives.

Monitor regional and national natural gas market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, pipeline constraints, regulatory developments, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and risks.

Negotiate and execute natural gas purchases, sales, transportation, and related commercial agreements in accordance with approved risk management and compliance guidelines.

Build, maintain, and expand strategic relationships with producers, marketers, utilities, industrial customers, pipelines, and other market participants to enhance commercial opportunities.

Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, Business Development, Risk Management, Accounting, and Executive Management to support commercial initiatives and strategic decision-making.

Provide commercial leadership and support across multiple trading regions, including Permian, Oklahoma, Gulf Coast, and other key markets.

Prepare and present market intelligence, portfolio performance analysis, and strategic recommendations to commercial leadership.

Support long-term growth initiatives, strategic projects, and market development efforts.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of natural gas marketing, trading, commercial, or related industry experience, including significant exposure to physical natural gas markets.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of natural gas scheduling, transportation management, or commercial operations experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in natural gas market fundamentals, pipeline transportation, storage, supply sourcing, and downstream market development.
  • Strong understanding of physical and financial natural gas trading, hedging strategies, risk management principles, and portfolio optimization.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies that drive profitability and maximize asset value.
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements and transportation arrangements.
  • Advanced analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate market opportunities and commercial risks.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound commercial judgment, and make decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across commercial, operational, and executive teams.
  • Consistent track record of accountability, initiative, and delivering results in a highly competitive commercial environment.
