ACCOUNTS PAYABLE PROCESS SPECIALIST - CORPORATE OFFICE (AUSTIN, MN)

This position reports to the Senior Financial Accountant.
The AP Process Specialist supports daily AP operations by handling higher-complexity processing tasks, resolving clerk-level escalations, and maintaining accuracy and consistency across workflows. This role provides informal guidance to AP clerks, assists with training, troubleshoots exceptions, and supports the Lead Specialist and AP Manager with process and system improvements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assist with system testing, troubleshooting, and resolving workflow or process inefficiencies.
  • Consistently follow established AP processes, identifying recurring issues and escalating them to the Lead as appropriate.
  • Handle complex non PO invoices, exception items, and escalations. Support daily monitoring and resolution of exception queues.
  • Support month end tasks-including unmatched POs, invoice holds, and exception cleanup-to ensure accurate, timely close activities. Serve as backup for period close responsibilities when the Lead or AP Manager is unavailable.
  • Offer informal training and troubleshooting assistance. Partner with the Lead Accounting Specialist to balance daily workloads and support team assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work independently.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical ability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post high school classes or 2-year (AAS) degree in accounting or business.
  • Oracle experience.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is $20.25- $28.50, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
