Job description

Cape Fox Tours is seeking a talented Native Artist. The Native Artist will work on various projects throughout the summer based on ability and talent. The Native Artist will be well-versed in the Native Arts and willing to tell stories relevant to the art being created and share cultural significance, knowledge and talent with others.

The artist will adapt to various tour schedules throughout the season and engage with guests and answer questions. This position is seasonal (April 15 - October 15). The hourly rate for this position has been established at $18.

The above rate represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to Provide personable and friendly interaction with tour guests while telling stories and sharing cultural information.

Work with traditional materials and techniques and demonstrate the creative process to an audience. Share knowledge about the art, including its history, significance and connection to native Alaskan heritage and the local environment. Share personal and cultural stories and traditions that are relevant to the art being created to provide a deeper and more personal understanding for the visitors.High school diploma or equivalent is desired Previous experience with native art is preferred Must be well-versed in the Native Arts and willing to tell relevant stories Knowledge of company policies and procedures

Must have adequate knowledge of local environment and cultural history, practices, and lifestyles of today. Long hours and weekends may be required depending on tour schedule. Must be able to work with difficult customers/guests in a professional manner.

Must be able to communicate information on cultural matters. Strong oral communication skills and able to present to crowds. Self-motivated with minimal oversight.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.High school diploma or equivalent is desired Previous experience with native art is preferred Must be well-versed in the Native Arts and willing to tell relevant stories Knowledge of company policies and procedures. Must have adequate knowledge of local environment and cultural history, practices, and lifestyles of today. Long hours and weekends may be required depending on tour schedule
