Job description

Compensation

[Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: $19.23- $38.46 per hour or $40,000 – $80,000 per year.

Commission: Commissions are earned on each sale based on product type:

  • 50% -150% of one month’s MRCs (monthly recurring charges)
  • 1/12 of one-time NRCs (non-recurring charges)
  • 1/24 of Burst

[Tenured] Base Salary Pay Range: $19.23 - $48.07 per hour or $40,000 - $100,000 per year based on achievement of structured tenure and performance based pay increases.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off (20 days per year); short- and long-term disability; life insurance; holidays; family leave; a 401(k) with employer match; stock options; and an Employee Assistance Program.

Responsibilities
  • Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory via sourcing and hunting focused on the Mid Market and non-named National Account target market segments (up to 500–999 employees).
  • Directly call, email, and otherwise contact prospects to identify, qualify, and generate new business opportunities by working with key decision makers.
  • Cooperate with field efforts such as building walks, lobby events, property management relationships, and face‑to‑face customer meetings.
  • Leverage consultative and relationship‑building selling techniques to identify current and future connectivity solutions.
  • Position Cogent services to help customers and prospects develop new business.
  • Achieve monthly revenue goals by selling into the nation's largest commercial, retail, office park, and professional campus buildings.
Qualifications
  • Previous sales experience (recent experience strongly preferred) with a track record of success is required.
  • Ability to identify, qualify, and generate new business through extensive prospecting and research.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team environment with revenue deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM systems is a plus.
  • A college degree is preferred but not required.

This is an in‑office position five days a week to support mentorship, training, and personal coaching.
