Job Description Summary
The Sr. Application Operations Engineer will serve as a key technical owner for hardware-connected applications and manufacturing technology integrations across shop, lab, and test environments. This role partners closely with DT, engineering, manufacturing, and operations leadership to deploy, support, and improve digital solutions that directly enable Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) priorities.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, hardware, and manufacturing operations, translating shopfloor and engineering needs into stable, secure, and high-performing technical solutions. You will support and improve connected systems involving machine connectivity, industrial I/O, sensors, IoT-enabled devices, National Instruments platforms, data acquisition, HMI/SCADA, and additive manufacturing / 3D printing-related technologies. The role also requires the ability to work effectively with electronic hardware, interpret schematics, and read engineering drawings and prints to support troubleshooting, integration, and implementation activities.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, hands-on troubleshooting capability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in manufacturing technology environments.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the deployment, configuration, integration, support, and continuous improvement of hardware-enabled applications and connected manufacturing technologies.
  • Support digital factory capabilities including machine connectivity, industrial I/O, sensor enablement, IoT/edge devices, data acquisition, mobility, and equipment-to-application integration.
  • Provide technical support for site-specific software and platforms such as factory management, analytics, HMI/SCADA, test applications, and connected engineering tools.
  • Support National Instruments-based platforms, instrumentation, and data acquisition environments used in lab, test, and manufacturing applications.
  • Support additive manufacturing / 3D printing systems and related workflows, including equipment interfaces, application support, and troubleshooting where applicable.
  • Interpret electrical and electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering prints to support system integration, issue resolution, and equipment/application interfacing.
  • Monitor application and system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Respond to and resolve user-, customer-, and system-reported incidents involving applications, hardware interfaces, instrumentation, or connected equipment, minimizing downtime and business impact.
  • Partner with DT, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and equipment stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain awareness of deployments, infrastructure updates, and equipment changes that may affect system availability, and proactively prevent disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, application integrations, hardware interfaces, support procedures, and technical standards.
  • Ensure conformance with established architecture, standards, cybersecurity expectations, and operational support practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, standardization, automation, and supportability across connected systems and applications.
  • Work independently on projects while contributing across the team, managing scope, priorities, and execution against deadlines.
  • Partner with users, product/service owners, and operational leaders on new capability introductions, changes, and transitions to steady-state support.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college with minimum of 2 years of professional experience OR Associates degree with minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR High School Diploma with minimum of 7 years of professional experience
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
