Responsibilities

Sign on bonus available:

  • Two years' experience + certification = $20,000
  •  Less than two years' experience + certification, evening shift = $15,000 
  • Less than two years' experience + certification, day shift = $10,000 
  • Non-certification = $5,000
  • Sign-on bonus eligible for external candidates only.
     

To carry out intraoperative monitoring of EEG or EMG and Evoked Potentials during surgical procedures assisting the surgeon in prevention of neurological deficits. To perform routine procedures in the Clinic or hospital EEG, EMG or EP laboratories when not in the operating room.


Qualifications

Tech I: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited institution for neurodiagnostic technology or 2 years equivalent neurodiagnostic tech experience. Associate's degree preferred. Experience in routine diagnostic testing is preferred. Computer skills required. Ability to work independently and shows proficiency in troubleshooting. Within two years of employment, specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (R. EEG T., R. EP T., CNIM, CLTM and CAP); American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM; CNCT) and/or American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET; R.NCS.T.) is required in the laboratory of hire. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support. Those hired into this job description prior to year 2013 will not be impacted by the lab specific certification requirement. The Certification Examination in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring is strongly encouraged.

Tech II: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited institution for neurodiagnostic technology or 2 years equivalent neurodiagnostic tech experience. Associate's degree preferred.
Must have proficient experience in the IONM modality(ies) for the position in which is being considered. For IONM EEG, this would include: EEG monitoring during carotid endarterectomy, intracranial grid placement, stereotactical depth placement, lobectomies, awake/asleep cortical mapping, and circulatory arrest cases. For IONM EMG/EP, this would include the following surgeries/procedures: vertebral column, craniotomy, interventional radiology ablation, supratentorial tumor resection, periacetabular osteotomy, peripheral nerve reconstruction, selective dorsal rhizotomy, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, intramedullary spinal cord tumor, and spinal cord/dorsal root ganglion stimulator placement. Minimum of 1 year of experience in IONM testing is preferred. Computer skills required. Specific training in EEG surgical monitoring including anesthesia effects on EEG and recording techniques, EMG, somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs), transcranial motor evoked potentials (MEPs), pedicle screw stimulation, auditory evoked potentials (AEPs), cranial nerve EMG monitoring, sensorimotor cortical and subcortical mapping, language cortical mapping, nerve action potential, and visual evoked potentials is required. Must have the ability to work independently and shows proficiency in trouble shooting.

Must have the ability to work unexpected hours, which may include days, evenings, nights and weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
Must be a current Registered Technologist with the CNIM specific certification through ABRET - Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation. Must have current certification in Basic Life Support. Those hired into this job description prior to year 2000 will not be impacted by the lab specific certification requirement.
