The Quality Engineer, Subject Matter Expert (Part-Time) will support the NASA Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Space Launch System (SLS) program by leveraging extensive quality engineering expertise and NASA experience to ensure safety, mission assurance, and program success.
  • Serve as a Quality Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the SLS Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Chief Safety Office.
  • Apply historical knowledge of Launch Vehicle GMIPs, assessments, and MRB Authority processes to enhance program objectives and operational excellence.
  • Perform quality engineering activities in support of the Space Launch System (SLS) program at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or a related field.
  • Must have 20+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 24+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered.

DESIRED:
  • Prior experience with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) processes and procedures is highly desired.
  • Skilled in working with both contractors and NASA senior level engineering and Program/Project Managers in a professional manner and able to communicate complex safety and engineering issues in an understandable and diplomatic manner.

WORK LOCATION:
  • This position is a remote position; some travel may be required.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
