Community Montessori School is seeking a warm, dependable, and collaborative Children’s House Nap Room & After School Assistant to support students ages 2–4 during nap time and after school programming. Position Overview

The Children’s House Nap Room & After School Assistant supports the daily supervision, care, and engagement of students during nap time and after school programming. This role helps maintain safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate environments while supporting classroom routines and student transitions throughout the afternoon.

The Assistant works closely with the After School Programs Coordinator and other staff to ensure consistent supervision, smooth operations, and positive student experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the safety, supervision, and well-being of students during nap and after school hours.
  • Assist with transitions, routines, recess, and after school activities.
  • Foster respectful, calm, and positive interactions with students.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and prepared classroom and after school environments.
  • Follow school safety procedures and report incidents or concerns appropriately.
  • Collaborate with staff to support smooth daily operations and student success.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and school events.

  • 30 hours per week
  • Monday–Friday, 11:30 AM–5:30 PM
QualificationsRequired
  • Experience working with young children; experience with ages 2–4 preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and follow direction.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Ability to meet all background check and regulatory requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Preferred
  • Experience in a school, childcare, or after school setting.
  • Familiarity with Montessori environments or child-centered educational approaches.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role requires active engagement with students throughout the day, including:

  • Frequent movement throughout classrooms and outdoor spaces.
  • Active supervision of children indoors and outdoors.
  • Standing, walking, bending, and assisting children as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed throughout the workday.
  • Working in a dynamic environment with frequent transitions and interruptions.
