RoadGuard, founded in 2024, unites industry-leading roadway safety companies providing guardrail, bridge railing, highway signage, fencing, and specialty fabrication services.
Across all our businesses, we are driven by innovation, extreme ownership, technical excellence, and a relentless commitment to measurable results that improve safety and infrastructure resilience.
We operate in demanding environments where equipment performance directly impacts safety and project success. Our culture is built on extreme ownership, innovation, and results-driven execution.
We're looking for traveling field mechanics who live in one of the regions where most of our work is done. You'll travel from your home to wherever the machines break down, and you may at multiple locations, one after the next. You may be out for as much as two weeks at a time. One week per month, you'll be "on call", but you will get regular rotations and most weekends at home. You'll have a corporate credit card to cover travel costs, including fuel, lodging, food and any tools or supplies you need for work.
The Role
This is not a shop role. You will be the frontline mechanic, responsible for keeping mission-critical equipment running across active job sites.
We are looking for someone who can diagnose fast, think independently, and solve problems others can't-often in remote, high-pressure conditions.
What You'll Do
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
  • Execute rapid-response repairs to keep crews operational
  • Identify root causes, not just symptoms
  • Track and document work, parts, and equipment status
  • Train operators on basic maintenance and early issue detection
  • Travel extensively and work in physically demanding environments

What We're Looking For
Baseline:
  • Experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently with high ownership
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

Preferred (Higher Ceiling):
  • 5+ years in heavy construction equipment (field-based)
  • Advanced hydraulics/electrical diagnostics
  • CDL and/or relevant certifications

Compensation & Benefits
This is a SALARIED, non-exempt role so you'll always get your base pay plus an overtime wage when you work more than 40 hours in a week
  • $33-$42/hour + overtime
  • Fully covered road expenses (meals, gas, hotels if needed) via corporate credit card
  • Crane truck with full set of provided tools
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with match
  • PTO + holidays
  • Ongoing training and advancement opportunities

Who Succeeds Here
Top performers in this role:
  • Own equipment uptime like it's their business
  • Solve complex failures under pressure
  • Anticipate problems before they happen
  • Improve performance across the fleet-not just fix individual machines

If you're a high-agency mechanic who wants to operate in the field, solve real problems, and be trusted to deliver, we want to hear from you.
US pay range for this role.
$33-$42 USD
