Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator / Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include (1) Receiving incoming warehouse items or equipment; (2) Storing items in bins or bulk storage areas in accordance with pre-designated locations; 3) Utilizing tools such as saws, drills or binding tools to assemble or construct various items; and 4) Securing supply items on trucks, vans, or other vehicles for transport. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Uses power and manual tools and devices that typically involve continuous physical effort and extended periods of standing, bending, and stooping while building or repairing containers and material shipping devices. Exposed to noise and dust from power saws, hammers, nailing machines, and related equipment. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises and scrapes, splinters, muscle strains, and other injuries from using hand and power tools. Safety equipment and protective devices including safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and proper clothes are used to minimize hazards. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping, and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles, and raising, lowering, and tilting the forklift loads. When operating large forklifts over rough terrain, extra physical effort may be required due to equipment vibrations.
Working Conditions: Works inside in areas that are hot, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted and ventilated. May work in adverse weather in such outside areas as open docks and storage yards subject to exposure to dust, dirt, and weather from cold to hot temperatures. Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, falling objects, or accidents with other moving equipment.Education:Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.Employment Type: OTHER
