A Day in This Role

Morning starts by checking project specs and the TPG Quality Manual. You’ll calibrate gauges, review drawings, and plan inspections with production and operations. Before lunch, you might qualify a welder, log results, and prepare concrete, weld, and cement-mortar lining samples for lab processing. Afternoons often include in-process and final inspections for BLE, SPP, and Fittings components; performing NDE/NDT; coordinating with outside exam vendors; and closing out QC documentation. You’ll wrap by updating nonconformance logs, coaching newer team members, and aligning with engineering and project management to keep our Pressure products at the highest standard.

Core Impact
  • Partner with production, operations, engineering, and project management to uphold quality for Thompson Pipe Group – Pressure products.
  • Interpret and apply codes, specifications, drawings, and procedures used across daily QA operations.
What You’ll Do Quality & Requirements
  • Master the TPG Quality Manual and repair procedures.
  • Stay fluent in applicable codes, specs, drawings, and SOPs.
Testing
  • Use hand/power tools and lab equipment to collect, prepare, process, and report on material samples: production weld specimens, concrete specimens, and cement-mortar lining.
  • Proctor welder and welding-operator qualifications; complete test records and logs.
Inspection
  • Apply micrometers, calipers, holiday detectors, and thickness gauges confidently.
  • Execute, evaluate, and report in-process and final inspections for BLE, SPP, and Fittings parts (and qualified vendors), including coating, concrete, dimensional, lining, loading, and welding.
Examination
  • Perform and report NDE/NDT on components and assemblies from internal departments and approved vendors.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspection/examination providers and oversee their work.
Audits & Training
  • Independently conduct internal audits as assigned.
  • Train less-experienced personnel at the direction of Quality leadership.
Documentation
  • Complete and maintain QA inspection/test reports and records.
  • Manage calibration, certification, and laboratory documentation.
  • Review, status, and close out production records and quality control reports.
  • Prepare nonconformance reports and maintain nonconforming product logs.
Professional Growth
  • Maintain OJT records.
  • Keep certifications current and pursue higher-level credentials (e.g., ACI, AWS, NACE/SPCC, NDE/NDT).
Qualifications
  • Background in QA, QC, or production within a related industry.
  • Experience in one or more: concrete, civil, coatings, welding, NDE/NDT.
  • Level I/equivalent trainee or certified in areas such as ACI Field Testing; NDE/NDT MT, PT, RT, UT, VT (ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS 410); NACE/SPCC Coating Inspection; or API 510/570/577 or equivalent.
  • Level II/equivalent preferred in any of the above; AWS CWI (preferred) or CAWI.
  • High school diploma or GED; trade school in a related technology a plus; STEM associate’s or bachelor’s degree welcomed.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
