The News Group Legal team provides editorial, transactional, and production legal support to all News Group businesses and newsrooms. The team is primarily based at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with attorneys also located in Miami and Washington, D.C.

Role Overview:

NBCUniversal News Group is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Contracts Specialist to join the Commercial Transactions News Legal team. This non-attorney role will provide legal operations, contracts, and administrative support to in-house commercial transactions attorneys across a broad range of commercial agreements. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a high volume of contract requests, exercising sound judgment, and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and external counterparties in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Commercial Transactions News Legal attorneys with day-to-day legal operations and administrative tasks across the full contract lifecycle
  • Draft, review, revise, and manage commercial agreements and related documents, including vendor, technology, e-commerce, events, licensing, services, statements of work, work orders, amendments, and renewals, independently using approved templates and playbooks or in collaboration with attorneys
  • Prepare contract summaries, redlines, signature packets, and related correspondence for attorney review
  • Coordinate the team’s matter intake process, triage contract requests, and help attorneys prioritize matters to support timely and efficient service to the business
  • Maintain the contract lifecycle management system and related records, ensuring accurate tracking of key dates, deadlines, renewals, obligations, and status updates
  • Use contract management technology and awareness of legal operations developments (including use of AI) to identify practical, business-oriented solutions to deal-related issues
  • Maintain and update standard contract templates and develop improvements to processes
  • Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and service-oriented team culture
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in contracts management, legal operations, paralegal support, or a comparable role in an in-house legal department, law firm, or professional services environment
  • Experience in media, entertainment, technology, or other content-driven industries is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts, including familiarity with common commercial contract terms and workflows
  • Experience using contract lifecycle management tools, document management systems, or comparable legal operations platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and comfort learning and using legal technology tools
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate, with strong academic achievement

Desired Characteristics:

  • Solid analytical skills and sound judgment, including the ability to identify issues, escalate appropriately, and propose practical solutions
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate guidance and collaborate effectively as part of a team

This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
