Position Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) to provide primarily off-site music therapy services throughout Central Massachusetts, with opportunities to build a personalized schedule that may also include clients at our center.

Our current clinical needs include:

  • Elementary-aged students receiving IEP services
  • Older adults in assisted living and memory care settings
  • Adults with developmental disabilities and neurodivergent individuals in group settings

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy (or equivalent)
  • Current MT-BC credential (or equivalent)
  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance
  • Strong guitar and vocal skills
  • Excellent professionalism, communication, and organizational skills
  • Compassionate, creative, authentic, and supportive approach
  • Neuro-affirming clinical practice
  • LGBTQIA+ affirming and inclusive

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Therapy
  • Experience providing music therapy as part of IEP services
  • Experience working with older adults, including dementia and memory care populations
  • Proficiency on multiple instruments
  • Bilingual
  • Interest in teaching adaptive or therapeutic music lessons in addition to providing music therapy

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of clients across a variety of ages, diagnoses, and service settings
  • Manage your schedule to consistently arrive on time and provide full-length sessions
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Plan and facilitate music therapy sessions that address clients' treatment goals while responding to emerging needs through flexibility and clinical improvisation
  • Utilize a variety of music therapy interventions, including singing, instrument playing, songwriting, movement, and improvisation
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation
  • Establish and monitor progress toward short- and long-term treatment goals
  • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings
  • Provide compassionate guidance and support to clients, families, caregivers, and partner organizations
  • Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with clients, families, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams

Compensation

  • Music Therapy: Starting at $53/hour for part time positions
  • Adaptive/Therapeutic Music Lessons: Starting at $45/hour
  • Paid documentation, supervision, meetings, and other non-clinical responsibilities
