Description
The Middlebury College Summer Hebrew School is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Music Instructor. The position is available during the summer 2018 session, located on Middlebury College campus in Vermont. Our unique programs combine a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners, by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing, and recreating with students while reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in Hebrew.
Our school is looking for music instructor who is passionate about helping students learn music and demonstrates teaching excellence. The successful candidate can speak Hebrew as a foreign language, being native or near native in Hebrew and the ability to lead co-curricular activities.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teach music in Hebrew
  • Teach music and musical instruments to the students
  • Teach the students to compose music and encourage original creations
  • Text book knowledge about music and teach about its history
  • Coordinate musical performances with students and for the School of Hebrew
  • Completing all contact hours assigned.
  • Attend school specific, all school events, meals, and other specified activities.
  • Work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisor.
  • Other duties are performed as assigned.

In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach will be an excellent fit with the Hebrew school.
