Job description

Music Teacher

Season Dates: Ongoing District Need

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and play piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, violin/viola, percussion, horn or any musical instrument accompaniments employing advanced musical skills and demonstrating proficiency in multiple choral genres in rehearsal and public performances.
  • Demonstrate proficient advanced sight-reading skills.
  • Practice as music may indicate to ensure secure performances and playing of vocal parts (open score) during rehearsals.
  • Run sectionals and coach music students during section rehearsals, providing a summary to the director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in music and/or professional level ability to play. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Evidence of successful experiences working with school age music students.
  • Evidence of the ability to respect, protect, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Evidence of the ability and inclination to take charge of student behavior if circumstances suggest.
  • Evidence of the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Evidence of excellent human relations and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Ability to commit to the full year schedule and ideally to remain with the position for the long term, building upon a strong, consistent team in the dept.
  • Ability to transpose or improvise an accompaniment is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Finale may be a consideration.

Compensation: $32.50 per hour Not medical or dental benefit eligible.
