Job Description
  • Full Time Hospice Music Therapist Position
  • Schedule : PRN - As Needed
  • Territory: Surrounding counties of posted city
  • Performs accurate and comprehensive music therapy assessments a 5 day window from the start of care date.
  • Adapt existing or create new music therapy assessment instruments or procedures to meet and individual patient's needs.
  • Analyze data to determine the effectiveness of specific treatments or therapy approaches. Analyze or synthesize patient data to draw conclusions or make recommendation for therapy.
  • Review research or literature in music therapy or related disciplines.
  • Asses patient functioning levels, strengths, and area of need in terms of perceptual, sensory, effective, communicative, musical, or other abilities.
  • Communicate patient assessment finding and recommendation in oral, written, audio, video, or other forms.
  • Confer with professionals on patient's treatments team to develop, coordinate, or integrate treatment plans,
  • Customize treatment programs for Hospice population.
  • Design music therapy experiences to meet patient and family goals or objectives.
  • Establish patient goals or objectives for music therapy treatment, considering patient needs, capabilities, interests, overall therapeutic program, coordination of treatment, or length of treatment.
  • Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying.
  • Improvise instrumentally, vocally, or physically to meet patient's therapeutic needs.
  • Observe and document patient reactions, progress, or other outcomes related to music therapy and Hospice.
  • Plan or structure music therapy sessions to achieve appropriate transitions, pacing, sequencing, energy level, or intensity, in accordance with treatment plans.
  • Play musical instruments, such as keyboard, guitar, or percussion instruments.
