Position Details:

  • Start Date would be early August for the upcoming 2026 - 2027 Regular School Year
  • Location: Culver City
  • Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver vocal and/or instrumental music instruction for elementary through high school students, including classes and production groups of up to 14 students
  • Coordinate class schedules with school administration and support music programming during school hours, with occasional after-school and weekend productions
  • Collaborate with teacher specialists to align music curriculum with state academic standards
  • Plan and oversee student performances, including organizing productions, creating promotional materials, and communicating with families to coordinate volunteers
  • Use a multidisciplinary approach by working with staff to support students' behavioral and cognitive needs, and collaborate with the drama teacher as musical director when needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, supervision sessions, and assist with school events and other assigned duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Education or a related field is required
  • Special Education credential is preferred; or the ability to qualify for an Intern Credential Provisional Internship Permit or Short-Term Staff Permit   
  • Relevant experience in vocal and/or instrumental music instruction
  • At least 5 years of experience teaching music to children in individual, group, or classroom settings
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children with special needs
  • Experience producing or directing children's musical performances is preferred
  • Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies and the ability to follow supervisory guidance
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and computer skills
