Baltimore Public Media (BPM) is the parent organization of WYPR 88.1 FM and WTMD 89.7 FM. We provide rich, vibrant programming in news, music, arts, and culture—across expanding radio and digital formats—that connects, enriches, and elevates the residents and communities of Baltimore and the region. Our mission is rooted in journalistic integrity, cultural merit, and community service. 

Position Summary 

Baltimore Public Media (WYPR 88.1 FM and WTMD 89.7 FM) seeks an experienced, creative, and mission-driven Digital Producer to lead the production, publication, and distribution of content across our digital platforms. Working with teams across News, Music, Programming, Podcasts, Events, Underwriting, and Broadcast Operations, the Digital Producer will manage podcast production workflows and publishing; oversee newsletters, e-blasts, websites, apps, and social media channels; and ensure that Baltimore Public Media’s journalism and programming reach audiences effectively across platforms. 

The Digital Producer will provide direction and support to the Digital Associate Producer, collaborate with content creators on multimedia and audience-engagement projects, and serve as a primary digital editor for news, music, podcast, and event content. This position requires strong editorial judgment, multimedia production and editing skills, knowledge of digital publishing and audio-hosting platforms, and the ability to coordinate complex workflows across departments. 

This is an opportunity to help shape Baltimore Public Media’s digital strategy and expand the reach and impact of content that reflects the diverse voices, perspectives, culture, and communities of Greater Baltimore. 



Key & Responsibilities: 

  • Content & Platform Management: Oversee website, app, and audio hosting (SGRecast, Grove, Airkast) for news, music, and podcast projects. Manage digital newsletters and e-blasts.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Direct the Digital Associate Producer on social media curation, news/music content enhancement, and event promotion. Support newsroom efforts and collaborate with program teams.
  • Multimedia Production: Produce live and edited video/multimedia; assist with podcast scheduling and editing.
  • Editorial Oversight: Serve as primary web editor for digital news content, write stories across various beats, and manage online engagement projects.

Technical Requirements: 

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and 365. Teams, Outlook, Excell, Word & OneDrive 
  • CMS comfort levels. Willingness to learn Grove our NPR proprietary CMS 
  • Strong production skills and comfort in Adobe editing suite 
  • Ability to manage and schedule production flow of podcast hosts/guests 
  • Comfort level in email marketing platforms 
  • Strong news judgement/Copy editing skills 
  • High attention to detail and deadlines 
  • Video/Audio/Graphic design skills 
  • Comfort level across social media platforms 
  • Strong copyediting skills.
     
  • Previous experience working in a news environment preferred. 

Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years working in journalism, including 3 years working in a multi-media news environment with demonstrated skill managing social feeds for news and breaking news, multimedia production skills (video, audio, photo shooting & editing), print editing skills and familiarity with AP style. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
