Job description

El Centro Milagro is seeking a Music Director for its 2026 holiday production, A Xmas Cuento Remix by Maya Malan-Gonzalez.

Brimming with Christmas songs in both Spanish and English, A Xmas Cuento Remix is a high-energy theatrical experience that blends storytelling, music, and movement to create a world where past, present, and future collide in unexpected ways. Infused with humor, heart, and cultural rhythm, the production celebrates family, community, and kindness through a festive and contemporary reimagining of a holiday classic.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and rehearse 11 songs with the cast using provided sheet music.
  • Lead music rehearsals and support actors in learning vocal parts and harmonies.
  • Collaborate with the director and production team throughout the rehearsal process.
  • Attend scheduled rehearsals as needed to support the musical elements of the production.
  • Attend preview performances.

Schedule

  • Rehearsals begin October 26, 2026.
  • Preview performances begin December 2, 2026.
  • Opening night is December 4, 2026.
  • Performance run: December 2–20, 2026.
  • Approximately 25–30 hours of music direction are anticipated during the rehearsal process.
