Job description

Job Description The City of Dickinson is seeking a friendly and organized Museum Gift Shop Coordinator to join our team at the Dickinson Museum Center. This role oversees the museum gift shop's point-of-sale system and coordinates customer service, merchandising, inventory control, cash management, and daily gift shop operations. The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, has strong attention to detail, and can provide excellent customer service while helping lead and train seasonal gift shop staff.

Salary: $21.82 - $24.09 per hour, depending on experience Schedule: Monday - Friday, with Saturday or Sunday Key Responsibilities: Serve as the lead worker for gift shop staff and assist with training and daily work direction. Oversee and perform computerized point-of-sale transactions and cash management. Monitor sales, resolve cash discrepancies, reconcile receipts, and prepare sales reports and deposits

Provide excellent customer service, assist customers with purchases, and resolve customer concerns. Monitor and coordinate the ordering, receiving, and return of merchandise and equipment. Verify invoices and billing, resolve errors and discrepancies, and coordinate shipping or delivery of merchandise to customers as needed.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels and oversee stock organization and visual merchandising. Participate in the development and implementation of sales promotions and marketing activities for the gift shop. Assist with the development and implementation of operating budgets, policies, and procedures.

Monitor cleanliness and general housekeeping within the gift shop area. Ensure equipment and facilities remain in good repair and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained. Greet and process group admissions, including verifying admission counts and collecting payments.

Answer incoming phone calls, forward calls, and relay messages as needed. Maintain lost and found items for the designated retention period. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (required). Up to two years of experience working in retail, customer service, cash handling, or a related field; museum gift shop experience is preferred. Familiarity with automated point-of-sale systems and integrated inventory management.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with database programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of basic mathematical principles and recordkeeping practices. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with the public and coworkers. Familiarity with scanning equipment and digital photography is preferred.
