What is a multiverse?

Multiverse jobs refer to apprenticeship opportunities offered by Multiverse, a company that connects individuals with employers for paid professional apprenticeships in fields such as technology, business, and data. These roles are designed to give people practical experience and skills development while they work and learn on the job. Multiverse apprenticeships are an alternative to traditional university education, providing hands-on training and support to help individuals start or advance their careers. The company partners with various organizations to offer roles in project management, software engineering, data analysis, and more.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a multiverse data coach?

To thrive as a Multiverse Data Coach, you need a solid foundation in data analysis, teaching or mentoring, and curriculum development, typically supported by experience in data-related roles and relevant qualifications. Familiarity with data tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and visualization platforms like Tableau, as well as experience with learning management systems, is often required. Exceptional communication, empathy, and adaptability help coaches effectively guide apprentices and foster an engaging learning environment. These skills ensure apprentices master technical competencies and achieve their professional goals, reflecting positively on both the coach and the organization.

What are some common challenges faced by multiverse coaches when supporting apprentices, and how can they overcome them?

Multiverse coaches often encounter challenges such as managing a diverse caseload of apprentices with varying backgrounds and learning styles, keeping apprentices engaged throughout the program, and balancing administrative tasks with coaching responsibilities. To overcome these challenges, successful coaches prioritize strong communication, regularly check in with apprentices, and tailor their approach to individual needs. They also leverage peer support and Multiverse’s training resources to continually refine their coaching techniques and ensure positive learning outcomes.

Job description

We take play seriously. We're looking for curious adventurers ready to find their party, fueled by imagination and drive to build what's never been built before. At Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, you'll collaborate with passionate teams to reimagine our iconic brands and create experiences that spark joy, connection, and community through the magic of play. This is your chance to shape legendary play that lasts a lifetime.
At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That's where you come in!
We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Business Systems Engineering (BSE) organization. We build the platform and applications that power the creation and production of Magic: The Gathering®, Dungeons & Dragons®, and Duel Masters®. These products drive over $2 billion in annual revenue and are beloved by millions of players worldwide. The systems we build are what make that work possible.
This is a role with high impact and real stakes. You'll set technical direction, shape engineering culture, and lead others while staying hands-on. You'll work on the cutting edge of AI-driven software development, pairing technical excellence and engineering discipline with AI-accelerated delivery ensuring quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability. We're on a journey to make history, and we want you to help lead it!
If you're motivated by ownership, care deeply about the craft, and want to build something that matters - join the party.
What You'll Do
  • Architect, design, and develop a platform of services and applications on AWS that are core to our product creation platform.
  • Influence and champion and engineering standards across the org, resulting in effective system design at both the application and service level.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling continuously improving the practices, review standards, and quality gates that keep AI-accelerated delivery reliable and maintainable.
  • Own technical decisions end-to-end: assess tradeoffs, align partners, drive execution, and follow through without waiting to be asked.
  • Translate business challenges into well-designed, scalable software solutions in partnership with product owners and cross-functional partners.
  • Mentor teammates through technical direction, and code and design reviews, supporting their growth and career development.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and building a high-performing team culture.
What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a lead, staff, or senior+ capacity.
  • Proven track record building and operating production-grade enterprise software. Deep understanding of application and distributed system design and architecture patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows and the judgment to critically evaluate AI-generated code against production quality standards.
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, Java, Go or comparable languages, AWS, Docker/ECS/EKS), CI/CD pipelines, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and relational database design.
  • A proven track record of developing engineers through pairing, feedback, and career conversations and to influencing technical excellence across a team.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the communication skills to drive outcomes across technical and non-technical partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with React.js or other popular frontend frameworks.
  • Familiarity with event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Curiosity about or knowledge of Wizards brands.
