Position: Student Discipleship Leader
Reports to: Student Minister
Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Classification: Ministerial, Exempt
Description Summary
PV Student Ministry exists to multiply disciples to love God, love others, and make Him known. We see this fulfilled by helping students know Jesus, become like Jesus, and lead others to do the same. The Student Discipleship Leader provides specialized oversight of the spiritual formation and outward missional engagement of the Student Ministry.
*Note: This position requires PV Membership.
Job Responsibilities
1. Missions Strategy
  • Provide directional vision and leadership for all local, domestic, and international student mission trips.
  • Lead the planning and execution of all mission team meetings and required trainings.
  • Champion the student ministry mission strategy as it relates to the larger vision of the church.
  • Create and oversee our ministry partners who help in organizing local opportunities.
2. Curriculum and Teaching
  • Provide direct oversight to Sunday morning small group environments.
  • Manage the scope and sequence for student teaching alongside the Student Minister.
  • Create, supervise, and provide leadership to the Student Ministry teaching team and curriculum team.
  • Host and teach regularly for Student Ministry programming.
3. Discipleship and Milestones
  • Establish and give oversight to D-Groups (Discipleship Groups) for high school students.
  • Facilitate baptism conversations and care situations with students and parents.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the Senior Summit alongside the respective grade ministry partners.
  • Work with Student staff to develop a regular, systematic approach to developing the leadership skills of students.
4. Team and Leadership Development
  • Participate in leadership development opportunities for the Next Gen team and staff team.
  • Assist in the management of ministry partners and interns within the discipleship and missions tracks.
  • Communicate discipleship strategy and equipping resources to parents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Job Skills
  • Passion and commitment to lead people to a meaningful relationship with Christ.
  • Member of PV in good standing, affirming the statement of faith and church covenant.
  • Good communication skills in both large and small groups.
  • Technologically capable with a sense of calling for the position.
  • Ability to build, lead, and manage teams of all sizes.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills.
Education / Experience
  • High school graduate; BA/BS preferred.
  • Experience working within a multi-staff youth ministry.
  • Prior experience speaking/teaching to variously sized groups of students.
  • Prior experience planning and leading different types of mission trips of different sizes.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining teams of both students and adults.
