This role is for an internship in Summer 2027. The Internship is expected to start on Monday, May 24th with an end date of Friday, August 13th. Candidates must be available to start and end on these days.

Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you'll work collaboratively, driving work that addresses a strategic business challenge facing our team: helping to turn our vast collection of content into an easily understandable system that supports our visitors' key needs. In addition to your project work, the internship includes educational, networking, and social activities. At the end of program, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your final outcomes to a large audience of leaders, practitioners, and peers across the organization. This is a highly visible intern program with leadership exposure and mentorship throughout the summer.
The motion designer role supports our internal creative team, which is responsible for the strategic evolution and expression of the IBM brand across every experience and encounter, internally and externally. Our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications and content development, symbology and systems, digital and physical experiences, and tools and training. Our goal is to maintain modernity, sophistication, and tangibility, and to promote understanding of the IBM brand in the world.
The design practice is looking for a highly motivated Motion Designer who is passionate about ideas, brand experience and design, and looking to work with like-minded people. This person should have a strong attention towards strategic, simple, smart design, and a keen eye for a modernist approach to typography and information design. The right candidate should have conceptual skills with identity systems, and experience working across media. Work will include a range of assets and projects, including online, digital, data visualization, print, social, video, and events.
Your primary responsibilities will be to help:
  • Execute motion design projects from conception, design, through execution
  • Produce deliverables for online and multimedia
  • Bring abstract concepts to life though animation, video editing, 3D, and augmented reality.
  • Understand IBM's business strategies and goals
  • Collaborate with the team to support development of integrated brand-to-demand messaging and content plans that deliver the right content, at the right time, to the right audiences and drive the right outcomes
  • Prepare,recommendand test solutions to help engage IBM audiences through specific messaging, brand & content strategy deliverables
  • Help lead development and execution of specific elements of the content strategy with our creative partners
  • Apply deep curiosity to build an understanding of the market, targetaudiencesand IBM's offerings to help create the most compelling messaging and content

This role is based in New York City. We work in a hybrid environment. This position will be required to come into the office at least three days per week.
