Job description

Multimedia Communications Specialist


POSITION SUMMARY

San Antonio Academy is an all-boys Pre-K through 8th grade school that provides an exceptional education intentionally crafted for boys. The school seeks a Multimedia Communications Specialist to help support the mission through clear writing, compelling visuals, and consistent digital communications. This role blends content creation, photography, videography, and website management to reflect the warm, family-like atmosphere for which our community is known. The ideal candidate is organized, thoughtful in their storytelling, highly attentive to detail, and deeply aligned with the mission, traditions, and values that guide San Antonio Academy.

This position reports to the Director of Communications and collaborates with colleagues across the organization to help tell the Academy story.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Write and edit news stories and posts that highlight school experiences, traditions, and events.
  • Serve as the primary school photographer and videographer, capturing class activities, games, events, staff headshots, etc.
  • Record and edit video content for long- and short-form use, including reels.
  • Record and edit the Bond of Brothers podcast

Social Media Management

  • Develop organic content, including writing posts, creating graphics, and creating videos.
  • Maintain the social media calendar and manage class activity submissions.
  • Schedule posts, monitor engagement, respond to comments, and report analytics.

Digital Communications & Website Support

  • Manage the public-facing website calendar and printable format.
  • Update staff directory information on the website and in the parent portal.
  • Maintain staff email signatures.
  • Post news stories to the website.

Digital Media Coordination & Asset Management

  • Coordinate photo and video shoots, including scheduling interviews, arranging vendors, and preparing colleagues.
  • Organize and maintain the school’s photo and video archive for easy access, searchability, and long-term use.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in photography, videography, and editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Vimeo, etc.
  • Capable of using DSLR cameras, smartphones, and mics for recording. 
  • Able to follow branding guidelines. 
  • Experience managing social media for business use, including the use of scheduling tools and analytics.
  • Comfortable working in website content management systems.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, vendors, and the SAA community.
  • Previous experience working in an independent school, non-profit environment is a plus.
  • A collaborative spirit with a genuine desire to capture the life of our school.


Because school life extends beyond the regular day, this position includes occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned in support of the Communication Department’s ongoing work.
