River Valley Companies is hiring an IT Director / Head of Technology to lead technology strategy, IT operations, and digital transformation across a fast-growing, multi-location marine and powersports dealership group. This is a high-impact leadership role for a hands-on technology professional who can operate at both a strategic and tactical level.

With approximately 140 employees across 7 locations in Red Wing, Rochester, and Lake Minnetonka, our company operates on a fully cloud-based environment. We are actively investing in systems integration, workflow automation, AI tools, and process optimization to improve efficiency, scalability, and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology strategy, IT leadership, and digital transformation initiatives aligned with company growth goals
  • Develop and execute a long-term IT roadmap including cloud systems, AI adoption, automation, and systems integration
  • Act as a strategic partner to ownership and leadership on technology investments, innovation, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee all IT operations including networks, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, hardware, and software systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support, troubleshooting, and system performance across all locations
  • Manage vendor relationships across software, hardware, cybersecurity, and communications providers
  • Drive integration of business systems to create streamlined workflows and improved data visibility
  • Identify opportunities to implement AI tools, automation, and process improvements to increase productivity and reduce manual work
  • Maintain and enforce IT policies, procedures, cybersecurity protocols, and best practices
  • Support onboarding by provisioning hardware, setting up user accounts, and configuring systems for new hires
  • Develop training materials and train employees on systems, software, and technology best practices
  • Maintain inventory and lifecycle management of all IT hardware and devices
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring alarm systems and physical security systems


Qualifications:

  • Experience as a CTO, IT Director, Senior IT Manager, or similar technology leadership role
  • Strong technical background in cloud computing, IT infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, and SaaS platforms
  • Proven experience with systems integration, process improvement, and business technology optimization
  • Experience implementing or evaluating AI tools, automation platforms, or digital transformation initiatives preferred
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on IT support and execution
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and operate in a fast-paced, multi-location environment


Education and Certifications:

Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar are a plus


Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with flexibility as needed
Travel required between Red Wing, Rochester, and Minnetonka locations
