Job Summary
The Solution Architect plays a key role in Carhartt's solution delivery by translating complex, cross-functional business requirements into a technical architectural roadmap. This role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive technology solutions that address specific business needs. They serve as a liaison between technical and business teams to ensure solutions meet organizational goals. With a deep understanding of various technologies, the solution architect works closely with stakeholders, technology experts, and shared services teams to create a cohesive and efficient system that meets the needs of the business and supports the growth and evolution into the future.

Associate Responsibilities
  • Facilitate workshops, gather business requirements, map business processes, document customer journeys, document high-level business requirements, and translate into specific technology solutions.
  • Create and maintain application roadmaps and capability maps for designated business areas.
  • Research and benchmark industry best practices and develop new strategies/solutions that can be implemented.
  • Collaborate with IT delivery teams for designated business areas and IT Leadership to understand technical debt, areas of opportunity, and execution of the active portfolio to best inform roadmaps and future recommendations.
  • Actively participate in the IT Portfolio intake and prioritization process to advocate for architectural recommendations coming out of discovery and into execution.
  • Actively participate in the Architecture Community to drive consistent architecture processes across the entire IT landscape, inclusive of being an active member of the Architecture Review Board.
  • Ensure that the roadmaps and technical recommendations comply with architecture standards, established methodologies, and best practices.
  • Establish and utilize strong business relationships to provide guidance on business process changes needed to adhere to recommended technology solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of solutions and ensure compliance with regulations/standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead internal and external technical project resources.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required in Computer Science or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience inclusive of:
    • 2 years in a senior-level role
    • 4+ years' experience integrations with ERP systems, SAP preferred
    • 2+ years' experience Global Ecommerce (SAP Commerce preferred)
    • 2+ years' experience consumer-facing omni-channel technology (Ecommerce + Retail)
  • Experience with integration platforms, i.e. Mulesoft, SAP BTP Suite preferred
  • Proven project and process management skillset
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management with the proven ability to communicate complex issues and the business value of solutions; ability to influence without authority; strategic thinking with business acumen; proven track record delivering complex, high-impact initiatives.
  • Prior leadership experience within an IT environment preferred
  • Experience in retail or wholesale apparel preferred
  • Demonstrated experience defining API-first, event-driven integration strategies with emphasis on composable solution design across an omni-channel ecosystem.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Normal office environment; cubicle/office setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required.
  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary.
  • Some travel required (up to 25%).
  • This position has a Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events.
