Plant Accountant

Job Description:

Support the Plant Finance team in the execution of the accounting and finance responsibilities for the Chattanooga, TN manufacturing plant. Prepare various manufacturing performance reports on a daily and weekly basis. Assist in daily financial control compliance. Support the other members of the local finance team including the Assistant Plant Controller and Cost Accountant as needed in cost savings, capital, standard costing, and ad-hoc analysis. Contribute to month-end and quarter-end closing activities. Assist in both internal and external audits.

Job Responsibilities:

Month-end close journal entry, reconciliation, and report preparation

Daily reporting to cross-functional stakeholders

Daily internal control activity preparation and documentation

Weekly open purchase order review and spend forecasting

Participation in annual physical inventory

Ad-hoc financial and cost analysis

Support the Assistant Controller and Cost Accountant in various areas including cost savings, capital, and standard costing

Assist and collaborate with other departments to provide financial expertise in decision-making

Required Experience:

B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance

2 - 3 years of experience in accounting, manufacturing experience a plus

Knowledge of GAAP accounting, automated accounting systems and SOX

Interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of employees, management, and outside professionals

Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks and determine priorities

Strong computer/systems/PC skills

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills

ERP System experience, JDE E1 a plus
