Responsibilities

The Senior Tax Accountant supports the Company's corporate tax function, with primary responsibility for preparing the income tax provision and financial reporting under ASC 740. This role works closely with the Controller (Previously the Director of Corporate Tax), to ensure accurate, timely, and well-documented tax reporting. Responsibilities include preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provision, coordination of tax compliance with professional service providers, support for financial statement disclosures preparation, and assistance with tax planning, audit support, and strategic transactions. This is an individual contributor role with exposure to complex tax matters, including financial institution-specific matters and stock-based compensation.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting
  • 4 years of corporate tax experience, including hands-on preparation of ASC 740 income tax provisions and support of financial statement audits for public companies.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible candidate
  • Proficient knowledge of GAAP, especially ASC 740
  • Excellent work ethic and great teamwork
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships and communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with no supervision; manages time for high productivity
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Passionate and curious about accounting and tax knowledge and a continuous learner
  • Hands-on problem solver and an analytical thinker
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements
  • Experienced with GlobalShare,Certent or any other stock-based compensation management system
  • Proficient knowledge of Power query

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in Accounting or taxation
  • Experience in financial institutions tax (e.g., LIHTC, tax equity investment, PAM amortization, TEFRA disallowance, etc.
  • Experience with or interest in improving and automating tax processes and workpapers
  • Experience with advanced ASC 740 technical matters, including valuation allowance analysis, uncertain tax positions, 162(m) and contra DTA, windfall and shortfall computation on stock-based compensations, etc.
  • Big 4 or National middle market CPA firms, and project leading experience.
