Overview
Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), Great Falls, Montana Campus, invites applications for a full-time research and education faculty position. Great Falls, Montana is adjacent to the Rocky Mountain front and equidistant between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.
This faculty role is affiliated with the Weissman Hood Institute at Touro University (WHIT), formerly the McLaughlin Research Institute. The Institute serves as a collaborative hub for education and discovery and is home to a newly established NIH Center of Excellence in Biomedical and Rural Health Research (CoBRE). Built on a foundation of neurodegenerative diseases, our research strengths and strategy for future development additionally include epidemiology, rural health, women's health, behavioral health, neurology, and psychiatry/psychology. Applicants are encouraged to bring or develop a research program that aligns with these themes and is competitive for extramural funding.
We seek candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development in a medical school environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to medical and graduate education across multiple programs including DO, MS, and MSTP students.TouroCOM operates similar medical school campuses in Harlem, New York and Middletown, New York with each graduating approximately 135 new physicians each year.
Responsibilities
This position is an in-person split teaching/research position with 10% effort anticipated for outreach efforts.
Teaching

• Deliver high-quality instruction in the preclinical curriculum in content areas aligned with expertise.
• Develop course materials and assessments in coordination with course directors and departmental leadership.
• Mentor and advise medical and graduate students on academic, research, and career development matters.
• Participate in curriculum development, educational innovation, and committee service as appropriate.

Research

• Expand research initiatives supported by the newly established CIB-RHR, with the objective of building a sustainable and independently funded research program.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with scientists and clinicians across TouroCOM campuses and other institutions.
• Support student research engagement and contribute to the educational mission through research mentorship.

Outreach

• Participate in public-facing health and science initiatives, community engagement, or outreach to underserved populations.
• Serve on institutional committees and contribute to strategic planning at the department and institute level.
• Participate in the admissions interview process.
• Participate in student advising and mentoring.

This independent faculty position will report directly to the Associate Chair, Basic Sciences at TouroCOM and the CEO/Director of WHIT.
Qualifications
Education/Experience

• A terminal degree (PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent) is required.
• Demonstrated research experience with the potential for sustained extramural funding.
• Experience teaching in higher education or medical education preferred.
• Commitment to mentoring and inclusive teaching practices.
• Interest or experience in rural or underserved healthcare contexts is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, have relevant content and clinical expertise, and have a passion for teaching osteopathic principles and techniques at the medical education level.
• Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel) as well as software used to prepare written exams and Learning Management Systems.
