Job description

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director and Radiologist, performs mammography procedures at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and within established departmental policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification; however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in this classification.
  • Perform appropriate radiographic procedures for medical diagnosis.
  • Practice established radiation protection standards.
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting, that includes but is not limited to:
  • Perform all frequency-sensitive QA tests as prescribed by the MQSA
  • Perform medical audit of Radiologist
  • Review all mammography and pathology reports
  • Generate, review, and mail result letters to patients and referring clinicians
  • Prepare the mammography department for all inspections by the State of California and the American College of Radiology (ACR)
  • Compile and maintain statistics necessary for accreditation of the facility
  • Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain department equipment and supplies
  • Assist in training new mammographers and students
  • Assist in establishing department protocols
  • Attend meetings involving breast health
  • Schedule patients for and assist Radiologist in biopsy procedures including imaging of breast specimens
  • Contact patients for follow-up or additional radiographic films or exams

Pay Range: $90.90/hr
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 5 years experience as mammography technologist Valid and current certification in Mammography issued by the California State Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch Current Basic Life Support Certification; Basic computer knowledge; Valid and current certification as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.
