Job description


The Learning Facilitator, Online MPH works primarily with the Digital Learning Designers and also interfaces closely with development, teaching faculty, and students. Working closely with the production team, they assist in development, testing, and quality assurance (QA) on all aspects of each Online MPH module, including supporting faculty in the review and implementation on grading practices and rubrics to ensure a consistent, transparent and user-friendly assessment experience. They facilitate regular office hours for students to review learning material, assist with problem-solving, and offer extra sessions in areas where students need additional support. Learning Facilitators serve as the primary day-to-day academic point of contact for all Online MPH students, along with the teaching faculty. Being self-motivated with a mentality toward continuous improvement is important to success in this role.
The Learning Facilitator is responsible for a variety of activities throughout a given online module, including timely and ongoing student feedback, grading assessments consistent with rubrics designed by faculty, ensuring student questions and concerns are addressed, and leading regular office hours that accommodate multiple time zones to review content, assist with problem-solving, and offer extra sessions in areas where students need additional support.
Required Skills
  • Must possess a conferred master's degree in public health (MPH)
  • 2+ years of experience in a delivery role such as teaching, teaching assistant, or project/ program/ product management.
  • Must be self-motivated with a mindset towards continuous improvement and the ability to adapt to decisions made in support of broader program and institutional goals.
  • Collaborative team player with a demonstrated track record of transparency and proactivity in meeting organizational goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, responsiveness in a fast-paced environment, and openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Experience working with multiple constituencies (i.e., faculty, students, colleagues).
  • Ability to provide exceptional, student-centered support while clearly communicating complex concepts and consistently applying program policies.
  • Experience managing competing priorities.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fluid environment while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a remote environment, experience using learning management systems (i.e., Blackboard Ultra), Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, and the ability to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Ability and desire to mentor or coach peers and potentially, become a leader within the team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A concentration or demonstrated experience in environmental health.
  • Experience supporting graduate-level online education.
  • Experience with learning management system, preferably Blackboard Ultra.
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles.
  • Experience conducting QA of online course materials.
  • Experience supporting live virtual learning environments.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • This position requires periodic on-campus attendance to support live sessions, collaborate with faculty, and assist with other program operations.
