Pay Rate: $16-$18 DOE

Position Overview

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Shop Helper to support our fabrication and production teams. This is a foundational role perfect for someone looking to get their foot in the door of the steel industry. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment while assisting skilled tradespeople with various metalworking tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and move steel plates, beams, and finished products using forklifts, overhead cranes, or manual carts.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the work area clear of debris, scrap metal, and hazards. Empty bins and organize tools to ensure the shop runs smoothly.
  • Fabrication Support: Assist welders and fabricators by holding parts in place, grinding welds, and prepping metal surfaces for production.
  • Tool & Equipment Care: Clean and maintain shop machinery. Ensure all hand tools are accounted for and in good working order.
  • Quality Control: Perform basic measurements and visual inspections of parts to ensure they meet project specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all PPE requirements and safety protocols to maintain a "zero-accident" workplace.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable working with power tools (grinders, drills, saws) and a willingness to learn heavy machinery operation.
